As learners become more confident, they can progress from block-based coding towards text-based programming.


Micro is a good option for learners who are completely new to robotics or who would benefit from a more visual introduction.


Beginner Arduino Robotics


Arduino offers a more technical introduction to robotics.


Learners connect external electronic components, build circuits and write code that controls the hardware. Arduino uses a programming language based on C++, giving learners experience with a widely used physical-computing platform.


The Arduino course is well suited to learners who have completed the Beginner Electronics course or already have a solid understanding of electronic circuits.

Because learners understand what is happening inside their projects, the code becomes more than a set of instructions to copy. They can see exactly how the program communicates with the components they have connected.


Stage Three: Developing More Advanced Coding Skills


Once learners are comfortable with electronics and robotics, they can continue developing their coding skills.


They may choose to complete more advanced robotics projects or progress towards a text-based programming language such as Python.


Python is used in areas such as:

A computer or laptop is required for the robotics courses because learners need to install and use coding software. Tablets and iPads are not sufficient for these courses.
