ELECTRONICS and ROBOTICS
ONLINE COURSES
For those who are unable to attend our Cape Town courses or prefer to learn from the comfort of their own home, we offer two types of online courses to suit your needs.
Online courses are for kids aged 12 and up. If your child is any younger we suggest a parent or grand-parent tackles this adventure with them.
Our Electronic and Robotics courses are offered online with educational videos explaining the concepts so that you have a full in depth understanding. You would require a kit of components so that you can build the projects yourself for the full learning experience of doing-while-learning. And for the robotics course you will require a computer or laptop to be able to code on (iPad and tablets are not sufficient). There are also detailed videos explaining how the projects are completed.
These courses are ideal for a parent or grandparent to do alongside their child. A great learning and bonding experience taking you both into an undiscovered world.
See below for the choice of online courses.
We recommend, unless you already have a good electronics background, that you first complete the electronics course, before attempting the robotics courses. This is because you need to understand how electricity actually moves around inside a robot to get a full understanding of how everything works and why a wheel turns forward and then reverses.

Both courses will introduce you to the fundamentals of robotics, but the right choice depends on what you're looking for.

MicroBit is a beginner-friendly platform designed specifically for children. It comes with built-in features that make learning fun and intuitive. With MakeCode, you'll start with a graphical interface and can progress to coding in Python or Java.
-
Arduino offers a more industrial feel and is slightly more challenging to wire. It uses a programming language based on C++, making it a great step toward more advanced robotics.
Plus, both platforms have excellent online resources, tutorials, and project ideas—so you really can't go wrong!
